EXTRA-CURRICULAR ENSEMBLES
 
Currently, the Colerain Bands offer 8 extra-curricular activities. All music students are eligible for any of these activities. ONLY the Colorguard, Winterguard, Indoor Drumline, and Jazz Bands require an audition. No curricular instructional time is spent on any of these ensembles.
   

MARCHING BAND

The CHS Marching Band is the largest of our extra curricular groups. The primary purpose of this group is to support CHS groups and activities and to act as an ambassodor to the community for CHS. This is a non audition group that provides as many as 40 public performances each year. The Colerain Marching Band also competes on various area circuits such as Midstates Band Association, the Kentucky Music Educators Association circuit, and the Bands of America circuit.

JAZZ BAND I

This is our top Jazz ensemble, consisting of 19 to 23 elite musicinas from grades 9 through 12. Jazz Band I rehearses 2 hours a week after school during the second semester. Recently, Jazz Band I has placed first in their division at the Smokey Mountain Music Festival, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and at the National Music Festival in New York City. This is an audition group.

JAZZ BAND II

This is our Second Jazz Ensemble, consisting of 19 to 23 musicinas from grades 9 through 12. Jazz Band II rehearses 2 hours a week after school during the second semester. Recently, Jazz Band II has placed first in their division at the National Music Festival in New York City. This is an audition group.

PEP BAND

The CHS Pep Band performs at home Boys and Girls Basketball Games, as well as all school pep rallies and various community events.

COLORGUARD

The CHS Colorguard works in cooperation with the CHS Marching Band. This group is open to anyone in grades 9 through 12. This is an audition group.

INDOOR DRUMLINE

The CHS Indoor Drumline is one of our newest extra-curricular groups. This group is open to all music students grades 9 through 12 and meets and performs during the second semester. The CHS Indoor Drumline received the Silver Medal on the Tri-State Circuit in only their second year of competition.

WINTERGUARD

The CHS Winterguard is open to any student grades 9 through 12 and meets and performs during the second semester. The CHS Winterguard had an undefeated 2005 season and placed 7th on the Tri-State Circuit in 2006.

CHAMBER GROUPS

CHS Chamber groups perform at CHS functions, Northwest Local Schools events, and several public functions. examples of Chamber Groups would include the Sax Quartet, Brass Ensemble, and Woodwind Trio.
